Spanish Projects
There are two projects I designed for my high school Spanish One classes which I would like to showcase here. The first is a "Trip to Madrid" students were asked to work in pairs and plan an entire trip to Madrid. Below are the requirements which were handed out to the students at the start of the project.
This project encouraged students to be creative as they were not given any requirements on how to present their information. We had everything from oral presentations to posters to PowerPoints. Students also took different perspectives. Some students took the "Never Ending Budget" approach of private jets, limos, and 5-star hotels and restaurants. Other students took a more "Realistic" approach of taking buses, lower end hotels, and only splurging occasionally for a few special activities.
This assignment also gave the students real world experience in trip planning, many of them found there was more involved than they expected. Many students commented on their surprise at the cost of airfare, hotels, and transportation.
I enjoyed this assignment because as the students were getting opportunities to be creative and getting real world experience they were also learning about the culture, sites, and sounds of Madrid. They were learning about the food, the housing, and the city.

The second project I would like to share was a project creating a "Profile." Again the students were given minimal requirements of how to create this profile. Some students chose to do this profile on themselves, others chose to do the profile on sports stars, actors, friends, etc.
The goal of this assignment was for students to learn how to introduce people and key words and phrases which are associated with introductions. These profiles were then hung around the room for display.
Below are the requirements which were handed out to the students at the beginning of the assignment.
